Replace Citronella Torch Cans

Citronella torches help keep mosquitos away.

Garden torches, also called "tiki" torches, add warmth and personality to an outdoor setting. Torches filled with citronella oil, a substance that repels mosquitoes, can make a torch-lit atmosphere even more pleasant. Tiki torches need not be abandoned once they run out of citronella oil. Replacing and refilling a torch can is not difficult, as torch cans and citronella oil refills are available to purchase online as well as at home and garden stores. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Purchase a replacement torch can if you no longer have one. Buy an empty torch can or, if possible, buy a torch can that already comes with citronella oil inside it. If you cannot find a torch that already comes with the oil inside, buy a citronella torch refill. Torch cans and citronella oil refills can both be found by searching online or at most home and garden stores.

2. Unscrew the top of the torch can and quickly grab hold of the wick. Do this to avoid losing the wick inside the can. While holding onto the wick, carefully pour citronella oil into the torch can using the citronella oil refill. While making sure the wick pokes out of the small hole in the cap, screw it back on the torch can. If the can does not come with citronella oil inside, ignore this step.

3. Insert the citronella oil-filled torch can into its pouch at the top of the bamboo torch. It is now ready to be lit.
