Wearable Mosquito Repellent

Mosquito bites are not just itchy; they can also spread disease.

There is nothing like the whine of a mosquito to make you duck your head and go back inside. Do not give up days outside because of mosquitoes. Make wearable repellents to keep them away. Does this Spark an idea?

Repellents

Natural mosquito repellents that are safe to wear include juice and oil from the rose geranium plant and citrus oil. The rose geranium plant is a traditional mosquito repellent from South Africa. Citrus oil contains a compound called d-limonene, which repels insects including mosquitoes.

Wear

Bruise leaves of a rose geranium plant and rub them on your skin to repel mosquitoes. Purchase a fabric bracelet and add a few drops of rose geranium oil to it to deter mosquitoes. You can add citrus oil to a bracelet the same way, or put a few drops of citrus oil in a spray bottle then spritz your skin and clothes with the mixture.

Considerations

Essential oils lose their strength over time, so you will need to place more oil on a fabric bracelet every few days to keep it effective. Adding oil to scarves, fabric caps and to socks will help provide full-body protection from mosquitoes while you wear them.
