Use Mouthwash To Keep Away Mosquitoes

Mouthwash may repel mosquitoes.

Having your household stocked with insect repellent may affect your wallet in a bad way. Natural home remedies, a cheaper alternative, are safe to use, and have proven successful at keeping mosquitoes away. One of the home remedies is mouthwash, which contains eucalyptus, an ingredient in some insect repellents. Furthermore, the Natural Pest Control website claims that the thyme present in some mouthwashes will also drive away mosquitoes.

Instructions

1. Find a mouthwash that contains thyme or eucalyptus. These are natural ingredients that repel mosquitoes.

2. Fill three-quarters of an empty spray bottle with mouthwash. Fill the rest of the bottle with water. This dilutes the mouthwash so the smell is not overpowering. Label the bottle correctly to avoid misuse.

3. Spray the solution around the area that you want to be free of mosquitoes. Use the spray on windowsills to stop the mosquitoes from entering the house, or spray the solution on your deck to enjoy a bug-free evening. This diluted solution is also safe to use on your skin. Do not apply it on broken skin or sores, or in your eyes. Rinse with water if the solution was accidentally applied to these areas.

4. Reapply the solution every hour or as needed.
