Mosquito Repellent For The House

Mosquito repellents minimize the risk of mosquito bites.

Mosquitoes sometimes enter indoor living spaces to look for blood meals. If they bite, they can transmit disease-causing organisms to humans and animals. Some products can help you keep mosquitoes away and protect your family from bites. Does this Spark an idea?

DEET

Applying a topical mosquito repellent that contains DEET on the skin and clothing can keep mosquitoes away effectively. DEET products come as sprays, sticks, lotions and creams in concentrations between 15 and 85 percent. Some people show allergic reactions after using DEET.

Natural Products

Natural products that contain clove oil, citronella or peppermint can repel mosquitoes temporarily from the treated area. They come as sprays, air wicks and candles that burn slowly to release scented smoke. These repellents work best in confined areas when they circulate in the air.

Considerations

Repellents will not provide effective protection if mosquitoes can enter your house freely. Installing screens on windows and doors can prevent mosquitoes from coming into the house in the first place. Also, eliminating areas that collect standing water will help prevent mosquitoes from breeding around your house.
