Coleman lanterns are designed primarily for camping.
Coleman manufactures a wide variety of lanterns designed for outdoor use. While many of these lanterns contain enclosed, integrated ignition systems, some Coleman lanterns still require match lighting. Match lighting requires the use of open flame, so if match lighting is not desired, a variety of aftermarket spark ignitors may be installed in the lanterns' existing match holes. Using the proper parts, equipment and technique, you can install a spark ignitor in a Coleman lantern.
Instructions
1. Loosen the set screw on the spark ignitor with an adjustable wrench.
2. Remove the knob from the spark ignitor and loosen the nuts with an adjustable wrench.
3. Remove the bracket from the spark ignitor.
4. Insert the base of the spark ignitor through a match hole on the inside of the Coleman lantern so the base is sticking out through the match hole. Install the spark ignitor in the match hole farthest away from the lantern's flame adjustment knob.
5. Attach the bracket and knob to the spark ignitor on the outside of the match hole and tighten them in place with an adjustable wrench.
