Natural Ways To Protect Yourself From Mosquito Bites

Mosquito bites can carry a huge variety of diseases, some even fatal.

Mosquitoes are known as major pests throughout the world as they feed on human blood, and in the process, create painful bites and spread diseases. The main way to counteract mosquitoes is often a bug spray, but the smell can often be unbearable. That makes natural mosquito repellents a popular choice.

Pure Vanilla

Pure vanilla is an extremely popular natural mosquito repellent as many people find its aroma pleasing. Besides just smelling good, pure vanilla is an invaluable mosquito repellent due to special molecules that produce vanilla's smell, a smell that most bugs and insects are unable to stand as it overwhelms their sensory organs. Be sure to use pure vanilla and not imitation vanilla, as the molecules that act as a deterrent have been developed over time by the vanilla plant to ward off mosquitoes breeding on vanilla plant leaves and are not found in imitation vanilla.

Lavender

With its wonderful smell, lavender is an excellent mosquito repellent that is natural. While pleasant to us, lavender's scent drives mosquitoes away by overwhelming their sensory organs. To use lavender efficiently, apply it to your vein lines for maximum effect.

Garlic

While not as pleasant smelling as other alternatives, garlic acts as a superb mosquito repellent. Rather than rubbing garlic onto your skin, simply consume garlic and the scent will be carried with your aroma as well as in your blood. While you may not smell the garlic strongly, mosquitoes will steer clear due to their high sensory organs detecting the garlic in your aroma.

Lemon Balm

With lemon balm, simply apply it to your skin and rub particularly on your skin veins. Lemon balm, like most other natural repellents, has a pleasant aroma and drives mosquitoes away by overwhelming their sensory organs. Let lemon balm be absorbed by your skin for at least 30 minutes before you go outdoors.
