Rapper Zapper Games

"Rapper Zapper" is a letter and spelling game that is available on multiple different gaming websites. It is designed as an educational program that can teach children about spelling, letters and create new words. Understanding this game and similar games can help you decide if its appropriate for your class.

Story

"Rapper Zapper" has a simple, space based story. You play as a member of a rebel alliance that is fighting against the galaxy conquering Rapper Zappers. They have taken over eight different planets in your galaxy. You must clear each of the planets of these creatures to take them back over and win back your home, one planet at a time.

Game Play

Play the game using the mouse. Click on "Instructions" at the main menu to read the extensive list of game rules. Clicking "Play" takes you to the game, which has an in-game tutorial that gives you advice as you play. Select one of the planets and click "Go" to begin. You can only play the first planet at the beginning. Small green and blue Rapper Zappers come towards the screen. Each one has a letter printed on their chest. Click on them to shoot them.

Rules

Each game starts with a word at the bottom of the screen. One of the letters in the word is flashing. For example, you may have the word "sad" with the "s" flashing. Click on the flying Rapper Zappers to replace the flashing letter with the letter on the Rapper Zapper you just shot. Select a letter that creates a new word. For example, if the "s" was flashing in "sad" you could select "m" to create the word "mad." Selecting a letter that does not create a new word loses a life. Lose all lives and the game is over. Click on blue Rapper Zappers to get more points. Make the "target word" at the top of the screen to get bonus points. Play until you earn enough points to go to the next world. Longer words with more difficult letter combinations await you in later levels.

Purpose

Play this game in a classroom setting to help your students learn their spelling and have fun. Send your students to the game in a computer class or use it as a reward for good behavior or good work. Show it to your own children and play it with them competitively. Competitive play may help build a bond between you and your child. It may also give her a reason to play harder, focusing her game play, which simultaneously helps her learn spelling.

Similar Games

There are similar games available online at various education websites. These games focus on different types of game play. For example, "Alphabetizer" finds a player rearranging the letters of the alphabet into the proper order using her mouse. These games play differently but all of them help support a child's understanding of spelling and the alphabet, which is a prime purpose of the "Rapper Zapper" game.
