Pain in Lower Half of Body
An abdominal aortic aneurysm happens slowly. Symptoms generally come on fast and unexpectedly. Pain in the abdomen or back is a sign that the aneurysm may have ruptured. The pain is sudden, severe and constant. Pain also may radiate to the groin, legs and buttocks as the supply of blood to these area decreases severely during an aneurysm. Clammy Skin
Clammy skin often accompanies an abdominal aortic aneurysm. When this condition decreases blood flow, blood fails to reach skin cells, causing them to lose color. Skin grows cold and often sweats in an attempt to restore body temperature. This symptom is known as a cold sweat.
Rapid Heart Rate
As your body responds to the lack of blood flow through the abdominal aorta, your heart rate will increase. This increase reflects an attempt to pump blood faster to the lower half of the body.
Nausea and Vomiting
You also may experience nausea and vomiting when you suffer an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The abdominal pain that accompanies a triple A can agitate the stomach and intestines, causing the nausea and vomiting.
Shock
Shock occurs when your blood pressure suddenly and severely drops because of blood loss. When an abdominal aortic aneurysm ruptures, internal bleeding causes this lowering of blood pressure, bringing on shock or a collapse of the circulatory system.
