Ultrasonic Mosquito Repellent For The Yard

Ultrasonic repellent devices don't keep mosquitoes away.

Manufacturers of ultrasonic repellent devices claim that they release high-frequency sounds that drive mosquitoes away. However, these devices don't reduce mosquito problems. Various universities and government bodies report their claims of effectiveness to be misleading or false. Does this Spark an idea?

Features

Ultrasonic devices come in many forms, including as wearable belts or wristbands, key chains and tabletop devices. They all create sounds that supposedly mimic male mosquitoes or dragonflies, frightening female mosquitoes.

Efficacy

Ultrasonic mosquito repellents don't keep mosquitoes away from the yard or any other area. The University of Florida reports that female mosquitoes looking for a blood meal don't fly away from male mosquitoes or dragonflies.

False Claims

In 2002, the Federal Trade Commission charged a company with making false advertising claims for its ultrasonic mosquito control products. The FTC states that no evidence supports such claims.
