Many household items use batteries that carry a charge strong enough to power an effective stun gun. Making a stun gun requires little more than a capacitor, speaker wires and a battery. An easy and effective way to make an impromptu stun gun is to use a disposable camera. Keep in mind that this project involves electrical impulses and can lead to self-electrocution if you are not careful.
Prepping the Camera
Remove the disposable camera from its cardboard casing. Make sure the camera's flash has been discharged to prevent electrocuting yourself. Do this by simply taking a picture. Open the camera case and remove the circuit board. Test it with a screwdriver to make sure no sparks fly, which would suggest the camera still carried a charge.
Attaching Wire
Cut about a foot of speaker wire. Strip the ends down to expose the metal conductor at the core of the wire. You will need enough wire to twist around the back end of the capacitor. Make an identical wire for each exposed wire on the capacitor. These carry the electrical charge and need to be secure to ensure the charge goes in the right direction. Close the camera case, leaving the wires hanging out.
Secure the Case and Wires
Tape the case shut with electrical tape. The wires will be exposed and loosely falling. With the case sitting face up, lay the wires across the front width. Tape them in place approximately 0.5 inches apart at the edge of the case. Cut the ends of the wires, leaving approximately 0.75 inches of each stripped. These exposed wires transfer the shock.
Activate
To activate the stun gun, wind up the camera, turn on the flash, and snap a picture. This should emit a shock equivalent to a dog's electric shock collar, so it should be done with extreme caution.
