Shop Vac Pet Uses

Use a shop vacuum to clean up after your pet.

A shop vacuum is used to clean wet or dry messes, no matter how large or small. It's an ideal cleaning tool if you have pets, especially for your carpets. Shop vacuums can handle messes that ordinary vacuum cleaners or brooms would not be able to handle. Be sure to put your shop vacuum on the correct wet or dry option before tackling pet messes. Does this Spark an idea?

Pet Hair

Some companies manufacture pet hair attachments for shop vacuums. Since hair can clog almost any intake filter, these work to remove the hair from the carpet without damaging your vacuum. You can also use a shop vacuum with a pet hair attachment on furniture or curtains.

Carpet Problems

Pets sometimes urinate or defecate on the carpet. While these messes can be removed easily from hard surfaces, stains are likely to take root in the carpet, and removing odors can be more difficult. With a shop vacuum set to wet, you can remove the mess, then force clean water into the area. Once the clean water has infiltrated the mess, you can suck it back into the vacuum and repeat the process until the water coming out of the carpet is clear.

Other Messes

Having a pet means dealing with a never-ending parade of pet food scattered across tile floors and litter tracked into rooms that don't even have a litter box. With a shop vacuum, you can pick up large things like dog food, whether it's from a box or a can, or small litter granules. If your pet tears up a toy and leaves the remains everywhere, simply turn on your shop vacuum and watch it disappear into the dirt container.
