Use Essential Oils For Powdery Mildew

Neem

Powdery mildew is a fungi that affects plants that are exposed to humid environments, either from weather conditions, crowded spacing or heavily shaded areas. Powdery mildew can be identified by grayish-white dust-like patches on the leaves of roses, African violets and begonias, just to name a few. If left to run its course, this fungus will cause stunted growth, yellowed leaves and, in some cases, death of the plant. While there are commercial fungicides on the market that will kill powdery mildew, they tend to be full of toxins and not pleasant for home gardening. Neem oil has become more and more trusted as a pesticide/fungicide in modern times, even though gardeners have used it for hundreds of years. With a simple homemade recipe, you can rid your plants of this disease for good. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Pour 1 tsp. of Neem oil into a large spray bottle.

2. Add 1/4 tsp. liquid dish soap to the Neem oil.

3. Fill the rest of the spray bottle with warm water, and shake well to distribute ingredients.
