Take A Sig Sauer Mosquito Apart

The Sig Sauer Mosquito .22 caliber pistol is the same as the popular P226, only 10 percent smaller to accommodate the smaller .22 LR round. Field stripping the Mosquito for cleaning or unjamming purposes can be done easily and quickly. Over time, after shooting many rounds, cleaning of the pistol's internal parts will be required. If proper steps are followed, your pistol should last for many years.

Instructions

1. Unload the pistol and remove the magazine. Visually ensure the chamber is empty after removing the magazine by cycling the slide.

2. Pull the slide back and lock into place by pushing the slide catch lever upward.

3. Rotate the take-down lever -- located just above and to the front of the trigger guard -- 180 degrees clockwise.

4. Pull the slide backward slightly and lift upward, then forward. The slide will disengage and then detach, as will the recoil spring guide and recoil spring.

5. Clean parts as required and reassemble in the opposite order of disassembly.
